Takeaways from The International Conference on ADHD (and a tease)
We just wrapped up the International Conference on ADHD 2024 in Anaheim, CA, and I always come away feeling full of information and warm and fuzzy from connecting with my people.
Some of my takeaways:
- On ADHD, aging, and cognitive decline:
- Menopause exacerbates ADHD symptoms
- Older adults not typically screened for ADHD, and ADHD can look a little like mild cognitive impairment
- There are some correlations with increased risk, or shared link but not a lot that is certain
- Ways to calm when our nervous system gets hyper activated/overstimulated: activities like the "Tapping freedom technique" from Tamara Rosier
- Ari Tuckman's great ADHD relationship therapy demo (really interesting to see a realistic example dynamic!)
- The ADHD Postpartum panel talked about increased mental health risks with ADHD and what that looked like for different real people. (There are differences in a brain postpartum for years after giving birth!)
If you have any desire to try The ADHD Conference for yourself:
- Online Conference in 2025
- (FYI, this one is still in the experimental phase, and I have never been to an online-only conference, but it is put on by the same organizations.)
- Next in-Person: Kansas City, Missouri November 13-15, 2025
Stay Tuned...
Next week I'll be sending out an announcement about a new project I'm planning for January. This will have, because in America why not, an accompanying Black Friday deal for purchasing by 12/2. (With a additional discounts for newsletter subscribers, clients, and ADHD Guild Members that can be used at any time.) Still working the messaging kinks out, but I'll announce early next week!
Thanks, as always, for tuning in! Brittany and Ollie
